Project “Solar Stars” Launched to Bring Solar Lights to 5,000+ School Children
TORONTO, CANADA – DECEMBER 20, 2013
SkyPower Global’s Chief Executive Officer and President, Kerry Adler, announced today the founding of SkyPower Cares, a charitable organization investing in the education and empowerment of young and vulnerable populations.
SkyPower Cares is launching its first international project, “Solar Stars,” in South Africa in the spring of 2014. Solar Stars will bring over 5,000 portable solar-powered lights to children who live in darkness in remote communities. These lights will provide students with 6-8 hours of extra light to study each evening to further their education and rise to become bright stars in their local communities.
“From the very beginning, SkyPower was founded to create brighter futures” said Kerry Adler. “It is who we are – we care deeply about communities and the environment. In launching SkyPower Cares, we are furthering our commitment to sustainable and responsible development by creating even more social, environmental and economic opportunities within the communities in which we work.”
SkyPower Cares is part of SkyPower’s commitment to help bring light to remote communities.
