President and CEO Kerry Adler speaks on solar energy
TORONTO, CANADA – APRIL 3, 2013
SkyPower, the world’s largest and most successful solar developer, will participate in the Ontario Feed-in Tariff Forum today in Toronto. The discussion will focus on the past, present and future of Ontario’s Feed-in Tariff (FIT) Program and will be attended by decision-making delegates from all facets of the renewable energy industry.
The Ontario Feed-in Tariff Forum is a great opportunity for reflection on the program’s history. Ontario’s FIT Program was launched in 2009 in order to create new clean-energy industries and jobs, boost economic activity and improve air quality by phasing out coal-fired generation by 2014. Ontario’s Green Energy Act and the Feed-in-Tariff program was the most ambitious and aggressive program launched in North America. This has put Canada on the global solar map.
“SkyPower is one of the first solar development companies to succeed in Ontario’s solar industry.” explained Kerry Adler, President and CEO of SkyPower, who was invited to participate on the Realities and Strategies for Project Developers panel. “Events such as the Ontario Feed-in-Tariff Forum provide insight on issues affecting the industry and help shape policy moving forward.”
The Ontario Feed-in Tariff Forum provides a venue to address the concerns that have risen since the program’s inception. Items up for discussion range from the many obstacles faced, to issues like municipally zoned land and agricultural soil classification.
