SkyPower Global , an independent power producer headquartered in Canada, has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Zambia’s state-owned utility ZESCO Ltd to supply 1,000 MW of solar energy to the Southern African nation. The agreement, announced jointly by both companies in a press release, supports the Green Giant Zambia project, which aims to provide electricity to approximately 4 million households, stimulate employment opportunities, and bolster Zambia’s economy reliant on copper mining with more renewable energy.

In an effort to bolster female participation in technical and vocational education and training (TVET), twenty-two aspiring female engineers from various TVET colleges in Limpopo, North West, and Free State provinces of South Africa are gearing up to embark on a transformative journey to India. The destination? A solar panel manufacturing learning program.

African Development Bank Group President Dr. Akinwumi A.
